Earthquake engineering (or also referred as Seismic engineering) is that branch of civil engineering which studies the way to make structures, such as buildings & bridges, resistant to the damage incurred by earthquake. It deals with seismic activities & ways to minimize the risk which can occur due to eathquake. In the broad sense, earthquake engineering covers the investigation methodologies and various solution of the problems that could possibly be created by disastrous earthquakes, and consequently the work involved in the practical application of these solutions, i.e. in planning & designing, constructing and managing earthquake-resistant structures and facilities.
